Thursday,
July 29th the World Championships was officially
opened by Her Royal Highness Princess Benedikte, Patron
for the Danish Sports Organization for
the Disabled.
The Princess came in o the Show Hall in a coach drawn by two horses. In her opening speech
the princess stated that she is very delighted to see that so many countries are
participating because it shows that riding is a growing sport for disabled persons and
also that the standards have become very high.
She underlined that riding is a very important activity in the daily life for many
disabled persons, because of the training and the possibility to be active in an equal
way. And not least because of the pleasure!
At the Opening Ceremony the 28 participating nations marched into the hall, each
represented by a rider on a horse and another member of the team carrying the sign with
the name of the country.
The Danish rider, Ida Andersen, spoke on behalf of all the riders. There were also short
speeches by the Lord Mayor of Aarhus, Flemming Knudsen, and the President of the
Organizing Committee, Sv. A. Birck Jakobsen.
Then followed a show with dressage, quadrille, and ten coaches drawn by the small
Norwegian horsetype, the Fjordhest.
The show was closed by the Danish grade I rider, Brita Falkensten Andersen. She showed a
Kür programme with grade II elements

Programme
Friday, July 30th
The competitions in the
warming up classes will take place and the prizedistribution will happen just afterwards.
The warming up classes give the riders the possibility to test themselves on their
pool-horse in a competition and their coaches a chance to estimate their teams.
Saturday,
July 31st
The World Championships
in dressage on borrowed horses and own horses take place and on Saturday evening there
will be a Prize Ceremony. Also the results from the national team competition will be
ready.
Sunday,
August 1st
The World Championhips in
Kür will take place. The riders ride a test they have composed themselves to music of
their own choise.
Kür is easy to follow and entertaining for the audience, because the riders are awarded
for a good artistic ride.
